Parties

The project consortium combines industrial and research expertise focused on the theme of this project. The consortium comprises of three partners whose role is summarised briefly below.

The partners have a deep and long-term interest in this research topic and consider this assessment project as a platform for future long-term research. Their willingness to proceed with minimal funding, while making optimal use of already existing resources, should be seen as a sign of the commitment of the consortium to this research topic and as an investment partners make for future research collaboration.

TU/e - The Netherlands

Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) undertakes the co-ordination (Panos Markopoulos) and the financial and administrative management (through TM cc). TU/e shall focus on end-user applications, particularly concerning the interaction design and the assessment of social presence and interpersonal needs satisfied. It will engage in very limited prototyping work under the guidance of Telenor. The body of the work will be executed by funding two nine-month internships for postgraduate students. Supervision will be provided by the two members of permanent staff listed below.

Telenor - Norway

Telenor is a sizeable company with large investment in research. In this project Telenor contributes expertise in computer supported cooperative work (CSCW) and in the development of telecommunication services. Telenor will do most implementation work and will guide the implementation work of TU/e so that a single coherent prototype is created.

Philips Research - The Netherlands

Philips Research will provide technical facilities and advice to the researchers of the Technical University of Eindhoven. The ASTRA project may use the Home-Lab facility of Philips Research, in agreement with Philips Research.
